Velodyne Subwoofer Repairs

velodyne logo, speaker exchange, speakerex Velodyne has earned their reputation for producing superb sounding subwoofers. Consumer satisfaction has been and continues to be ranked very high. We meet many people who are the proud owners of more than one set of Velodyne subs. As a service center, we see how strong Velodyne product loyalty really is. Customers are very pleased to be offered a repair option, especially when they compare repair costs to the purchase of new units.

The Speaker Exchange is the official Veldoyne Service Center for the South Eastern United States. We repair and replace amplifiers, replace foam surrounds, and recone some model woofers. Beginning June 1, Velodyne stopped supporting amp repairs and parts for the ULD, VA, F, FSR, and FSX models (although schematics are still available). However, other speaker repairs for these and all other models Velodyne subs are still available at The Speaker Exchange. The issue becomes, do you have an amp repair or not.

Most Servo related problems are most likely unrepairable, but before discarding the speaker, it is worth it to have the speaker evaluated. Not only can The Speaker Exchange repair the previously mentioned speakers “in house”, but we also provide both In Warranty and Out of Warranty repairs for the current lines. The warranty period for most of the current line is 3 years for  electronics and 5 years for the transducer (check for specifics in your manual.) Current lines are: DEQ-R Series , Digital Drive 1812 Signature Edition , Digital Drive Series , DLS-R Series , Impact Series , MIC-5 , MicroVee , MiniVee Series , Optimum Series , SC-600 , SMS-1 , Subcontractor Series and VX-11.

Typical of all speaker brands that use a polyfoam or butyl rubber surround, older Velodyne speakers also suffer surround dry rot. This can easily be repaired. You can send the woofer only, or the whole cabinet,  to The Speaker Exchange for professional repair, or try your hand at DIY refoaming. If you have an accelerometer (the ribbon cable that connects the amp to the voice coil through the cone) then it is very important that you DO NOT CUT it. The Speaker Exchange also sell new Velodyne Subwoofers, so we’re the place for all your Velodyne needs. Randall is the Velodyne specialist and would love to talk to you about your interests or concerns.

I own an older F-series velodyne sub, which is now making some horrible noises when signals pass through it. Is it worth repairing?

    Hi Cathy.
I have a VELODYNE SUB D D 15 PLUS that doesn’t sound normal. Do you think I can still get it repair by you. If yes please email me instruction on shipping and info on the repair fee.
    thank you

Yes we can repair for you. It is difficult to quote without having the speaker here to evaluate because it could be the amp or the woofer or both or it could be something else entirely (although that is more doubtful). Repair estimates run from $800-2500.00.

I have a dd 10 plus with accelerator (servo sensor) problem. It is possible to order one new sensor?

Or can i try to have a look at the sensor by just remove the dust cap?

    Thank you

The accelerometer is not repairable. We have been told that you can try to unhook it and the speaker should still work. If you want to send to us we will work on it and test this out for you, we are happy to do so.
